About Us
The Bomb Technician Memorial was dedicated on April 16, 2007 on the grounds of the Hazardous Devices School (HDS) at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.
While memorials have been erected to honor law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EOD Personnel, there has never been any official recognition for public safety bomb technicians in the United States.
Dedicated on April 16, 2007 on the grounds of the Hazardous Devices School (HDS) at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, the Bomb Technician Memorial serves to honor the sacrifice of our fallen bomb technicians and as a constant reminder for all of the public safety bomb technicians who pass through the doors of HDS of the risks, challenges, and commitment needed to protect our communities and country. The Bomb Technician Memorial bears the names of public safety bomb technicians killed in the line of duty on a granite wall guarded by a life-size, bronze statue of a fully outfitted bomb technician. The bomb technician statue was created by the internationally recognized sculptor Gregory Johnson, of Gregory Johnson Fine Arts from Cumming, Georgia.
The Bomb Technician Memorial was created by public safety bomb technicians for public safety bomb technicians through the leadership of the National Bomb Squad Advisory Board (NBSCAB). The Bomb Technician Memorial Fund (BTMF) was created by NBSCAB to develop and oversee the Bomb Technician Memorial. In November 2004, the Bomb Technician Memorial Foundation (BTMF) was incorporated by the South Carolina Secretary of State, and in July 2005, was granted 501(c)(3) charity status by the Internal Revenue Service. The BTMF Executive Board is comprised of the voting members of the National Bomb Squad Commanders Advisory Board (NBSCAB). Jeff Fuller, former Bomb Squad Commander for the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and NBSCAB member, was seated as the inaugural BTMF Chairman.
